![]() I really liked this, because it didn’t feel like a retelling, more a story that drew some inspiration. The inspiration can be seen in the overall story arc and the familiar beats are just visible when you reach their scenes. It is very different from the original tale, much darker and twisted. If I didn’t know this was a Beauty and the Beast retelling, I probably wouldn’t have guessed. Even if she could bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him? With time running out, Nyx must decide what is more important: the future of her kingdom, or the man she was never supposed to love.
